On the northeast side of the lake, several hot springs have sprung up with temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius. If you feel like enjoying it, you can do it in the swimming pools of one of the neighboring hotels, for example at the Grand Hotel Toplice.

If you like to walk, we recommend that you walk around the lake to see it in all its glory. There is a 6 kilometer route which is well marked.

One of the most popular things to do in Bled is to go to the the only natural island in Slovenia, located in the lake: the island of Bled..

Bled Island

In Lake Bled, this small island is home to the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin MaryThe church can be reached in summer with a Pletna or wooden boat and in winter there are water taxis.

When you’re nearby, you’ll probably hear a bell ring several times, as legend has it. if you ring the bell and make a wish, it will come true..

Once on the island, you have to climb 99 steps to see the church and its tower.

TRICK: In Bled there is a tradition that if a couple wants to get married in the church on the island, the groom has to climb the 99 steps with the bride in his arms 😓.

Bled Castle

The first castle was built in the 11th century and in the Middle Ages other towers were built, as well as the surrounding wall and the drawbridge over the moat.

Located at a 130 meter high cliffIt can be reached by car from the center of Bled or on foot following a marked path from the lake.

Inside the castle is a small museum about Bled and the history of the castle itself, a chapel, a wine cellar where you can bottle your own wine, as well as a souvenir shop and a restaurant .

Without a doubt, the highlights of the castle are. the views from the towers and from the terraces at different levels.

Ojstrica Viewpoint

This point of view, located on a hill 611 meters above sea level is, of the two, the closer to town and although the climb is a bit steep, you will be there in about 20 minutes. Once at the top, you will have a beautiful viewwhich will make the effort worthwhile.

You reach it by the forest path to the left of the Zaka camp. Once past the camp, keep walking through the forest until you find a wider path and turn right into the valley, where you will see signs pointing you in the direction of the viewpoint..

Coffee Slascicarna Smon

Close to Lake Bled, this is the place we were recommended to try. the famous cream cake, considered a national symbol: Kremna Rezina..

They make it homemade, with a family recipe and of the 2 we tried (the other one in Ljubljana), this one was definitely the best. 😋
